“This Is Extremely Important! Without a sense of joy, inner accomplishment, and the development of potential the personality will not only fail to flourish, it will refuse to maintain the physical structure adequately.” – Seth
The Early Sessions, Book 4 of The Seth Material, Session 178
“Without a sense of joy, inner accomplishment, and the development of potential, the personality will not only fail to flourish, it will refuse to maintain the physical structure adequately. This is extremely important! Superficial measures will not fool the inner self.
“We will discuss for some sessions the nature of dreams, practically speaking, from many viewpoints. Other suggestions will be given for general benefit. I hope in the future to make these points clear enough so that you will be able to discover definite connections where you have not before, that will tie into waking and dreaming situations with rather surprising results.
“By far the most immediately helpful suggestions have to do with dream therapy, with problem solving, and the search for abilities as shown within the dream state.
“The energy used in constructing dreams is every bit as intense as the energy used in the waking state, but there is no duplication because the sleeping self uses energy more naturally, realizing that it is available, and being more free in its operations.
“The energy is used in a more diffused manner however, than in the waking state. It does not have to be focused in one main direction only. It is as intense, but it has a wider radius. There is no strain involved.
“This is one of the reasons why health suggestions given immediately before sleep are so effective. Incidentally, they are excellent practice. Expectation can also aid you. In this case suggestions should be given leading to dreams in which a desired situation is accomplished. The dream will then increase and activate your own expectations. And as you know, the expectations themselves have much to do with whether or not any given situation will occur. Further detailed discussions will be held on all of these points, before these matters are covered.”
“Without a sense of joy, inner accomplishment, and the development of potential, the personality will not only fail to flourish, but the inner self will refuse to maintain the physical structure adequately.”
What do you think about this statement? Can you see any evidence in your own life that suggests this may be true? I do. In the late 70’s and early 80’s, I suffered from psoriatic arthritis. Swollen joints in both feet made it painful to walk and the middle finger of my left hand was unbendable for a year. Someone took a picture of me rowing my parent’s dingy to shore off Basket Island in Casco Bay, Maine. There I was with my middle finger stuck out in a constant “screw you” position.
After visiting a specialist in rheumatoid arthritis and finding little relief or hope for relief, I almost resigned myself to a life of pain and limitation. Lo and behold, a subscriber to Coordinate Point, a monthly newsletter my wife and I published, called me to say she was coming to California and wanted to visit with us. We said, yes, and several days later she arrived. For the full story of her visit, read Chest Cavity Blues – Role for Marijuana in Therapy?
Guided Imagination – Healing by Fire. Here is another story of how elements from Inner Reality can reach out to help us in times of need.
To give you an idea of how much we can learn about ourselves in dreams and altered states of consciousness, read The Ball of Light – A Lucid Dream About the Nature of Being and Creation.
Inside the ball of light or globe, which later in this dream became a highly advanced computer, I put on a helmet with wires attaching it to the computer and in the capacity of an Oversoul. In other words, I started using personality fragments from my own mind to create people in different times and places to live out their own lives like you and me. Each one had its own set of ideas in the form of beliefs, attitudes, values and expectations to play with. I only found two of the people I created interesting enough to pay extra attention to. The rest, I left to their own devices. I say this because it seems compatible with what Seth says above.
