Thanks for sharing this post. It helped me understand Jane a bit better. I have always struggled a bit with Seth’s orgin and his relationship with Jane. While Seth is a separate and distinct entity, he is also so closely physically intwined with Jane that I have felt the need to try and understand her personal relationship to the amazing material she channeled.

That she was/is only human like us all and struggled with the nature of personal reality is very uplifting to me. We are all just humans struggling to understand the unknowable and that is a beautiful thing.

I recently finished Sue Watkins’ memoir of Jane and read through several of the compilations of “personal material” deleted from the Seth books, and together they seemed to give a very clear picture of the factors involved in Jane’s illness. Sadly and rather disturbingly, it wasn’t anything too unusual, just more like common negativity taken to the nth degree by virtue of a highly rigid personality. Reading the Seth books over the last 14 years, I puzzled over her/their limited use of the material much like you’ve described your reaction as being, only to find that the reasons weren’t really mysterious. The realization of what was at work in her situation was made more poignant by how often such situations are replayed to varying degrees by so many people and how some do manage to find a way to deal with their challenges in what might be called “better” ways. Of course, Jane created her own reality, but knowing that doesn’t completely take away the wish that she could have avoided such suffering.

In reply to tubs. All we know for sure is that Jane kept saying, "Let my soul find shelter elsewhere." I couldn't find any clear reference as to why she wanted to leave when she did. However, it cannot be said that she didn't do more than enough to help the rest of us. Before reading the Seth Books, I had little hope for my own future or the future of mankind.

The basic gist i’m Getting here is that she was overworked, I mean, responding to 50 letters in one night? That’s a lot, and for someone who puts so much of herself into her work, it must’ve been emotionally taxing. Not just letters, but everything. Maybe she caught a glimpse of the other side and wanted to high tail it outta here. Or she knew she was getting too worn out to continue her work at a degree she found acceptable.
